Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

Murphy-Meisgeier Type Indicator
for Children (MMTIC)

Audrey Ludemann of our consulting staff is certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) for grades 8 and up, and the Murphy-Meisgeier Type Indicator for Children (MMTIC). Both are helpful tools in gaining useful knowledge about an individual’s personality type. A familiarity with type is advantageous in understanding personal strengths, heightening self-awareness and improving the ability to work and communicate with others. Knowledge of type preference can boost success in school, at work and in the home.

Are you an Introvert or an Extravert? If an Extravert, your preference may be to talk to clarify your thinking process. If an Introvert, your preference is likely to think internally and then share your decision once it has been reached. Imagine a teacher who wants students to participate in class (extraverted behavior). If a student is an Introvert, his or her initial dialogue is internal. Armed with this self-knowledge, a student could have a conversation with a teacher to clarify that student’s style of engagement in the learning process.

Are you a detail person or a big-picture thinker? Do you assess using logic, emotion, or a combination of the two? Do you like to complete and close your tasks using information at hand or do you prefer to leave your tasks open while gathering more data? Do you live ‘in the moment’ or is your natural inclination to think ahead? These attributes affect how a person functions in all aspects of life. Understanding the ramifications of personality type allows students to advocate effectively, to understand themselves and others better and to use this information to their advantage.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, based on C.G.Jung’s ‘Psychological Types’ helps to identify personality preferences, characteristics and tendencies. It does not assess aptitude, emotions, maturity, skill, intelligence or learning. Knowing ‘type’ is helpful in understanding yourself and others. Each of the sixteen types is gifted and valuable, and validates individuality.

For full-service clients of Bertram Educational Consultants, there is no charge for administration, written report and clarification of results for these tests.
